2025 GOALKEEPER CAMP! Hosted by FME Soccer Club in Milton, Washington

Dates: June 30 – July 3 (4 days/16 hours)

Location: FME Soccer Club, Surprise Lake Middle School, Milton, WA

Key features:

  • Expert coaching: Campers will receive personalized instruction and feedback from experienced goalkeeper coaches.
  • Focus on essential skills: The camp will focus on developing the essential skills and techniques that goalkeepers need to be successful, such as shot-stopping, diving, handling, footwork, and communication.
  • Game-like situations: Campers will have the opportunity to apply their skills in game-like situations through scrimmages and games.
  • Groupings by age and ability: Campers will be grouped by age and ability to ensure a tailored learning experience.
  • Fun and inclusive environment: The camp will provide a fun and inclusive environment where all campers can feel comfortable learning and growing.

Additional information:

  • The camp is open to goalkeepers of all ages and abilities.
  • No prior experience is required.
  • Campers should bring their own soccer cleats, shin guards, water bottle, and sunscreen.
  • Lunch is not included, so campers should bring a packed lunch or money to purchase lunch.

Goalkeeper Camp Curriculum Focus:

Bilateral Coordination: Improves agility and saves through movement symmetry drills.
Dexterity: Develops ball handling and hand-eye coordination through various activities.
Technique: Fundamental skills like diving, shot-stopping, parrying, and footwork.

Ball Handling/ Ball Management: Control and distribute the ball effectively in different situations.
Game-Specific Moments: Decision-making and reactions under pressure in realistic scenarios.

 

Each Goalkeeper Session is based on 4 phases
Activation: Focus on improving coordination, agility, and reaction time.
Technique Practice: Mastering fundamental goalkeeper Technique
Skill (Pressure Practice): Adding plyometrics, incorporated movements to improve stamina and endurance, and decision making
Unannounced Practice: Games without knowing what situations they will encounter to develop game awareness, decision-making, and the ability to perform under pressure.
Sample Training Activities:
Defending the Goal Line: Body Shape and Positioning for catching, controlling, blocking, or smothering, understanding the “Goalkeeper Bubble.”
Blocking at close range: Diving, parrying, and reactions. Techniques to control and redirect
1v1 saves: Defending passes into space, Reducing shooting space, Using body presence, utilizing footwork and diving in crowds, line of conflict, decision making, spreading and diving at the feet
Defending long shots, extension and collapse dives
Mastering various recovery techniques; Rocker, Swivel, Same-Side
Reading, assessing, and attacking: Effectively dealing with crosses by reading, assessing, and choosing the best approach (attacking or defending the line)
Initiating attacks: Transforming defense into offense through quick and accurate throws or kicks.

CANCELLATION POLICY*
If you need to cancel for any reason up until 24 hours prior to camp check-in, you will receive a camp credit voucher for tuition fees paid that is good through the following year for any sport and is transferable to any immediate family member. Participants who DO NOT attend their registered session (no-shows for any reason) or who do not contact  FAIRO to cancel at least 24 hours prior to camp check-in will not receive a voucher or refund.
