Important Update for 2023 Gig Harbor Soccer Camp
It is with heartfelt sincerity that I reach out to you to say thank you for being a part of the Gig Harbor, WA Goalkeeper camps that I and my team have been organizing for the last six years. Thank you for entrusting us with the responsibility of coaching you or your loved ones to become better soccer players.
Unfortunately, due to some unforeseen circumstances, we weren’t able to hold the Gig Harbor Goalkeeper camp this year. The disappointment about not being able to hold the camp this year was palpable, but we haven’t given up the quest to help young talents grow and become better players.
Once again, thank you for your trust and participation in our previous camps; your belief in our team continues to motivate us to do better. We look forward to seeing you soon.
Best regards,
Stephen Swanger

Why Positional Play and Why Fairo Soccer Academy Believes It Will Teach Your Child the Beautiful Game
Have you ever watched a youth soccer game and thought, “There’s got to be a better way?” Here at Fairo Soccer Academy, we believe there is. We focus on a style of play called “positional play” that emphasizes strategic thinking, dynamic movement, and controlled passing to dominate the field and create scoring opportunities.
Imagine a chessboard where each player has a specific role and works together to control the board. Positional play is similar. Players learn to position themselves strategically, move with purpose, and anticipate the opponent’s moves. This approach is about more than just kicking the ball; it’s about understanding the flow of the game and using your positioning and passing to control that flow.
Why Fairo Soccer Academy Focuses on Positional Play
We believe positional play offers a strong foundation for young soccer players for several reasons:
Attacking Creativity: We go beyond basic dribbling skills. Our “rondos” (circular possession drills) encourage players to work together to manipulate the opponent’s positioning, creating space and unpredictable movement. This short, controlled passing approach allows players to break down defenses and find scoring opportunities.
Defensive Patience: Patience isn’t passive in our program. We teach players to maintain defensive lines and shapes, slowing down the opponent’s attack and allowing teammates to regroup. This focus on communication, anticipation, and controlled defending helps shut down scoring threats.
Fairo Soccer Academy: Building Well-Rounded Players
While positional play is a core concept, we know there’s more to soccer. Our program also emphasizes:
Technical Skills: We dedicate time to honing fundamental skills like passing, receiving, shooting, and dribbling.
Age-Appropriate Training: Our programs are designed for different age groups. For younger players (4-6), the focus is on fun and fostering a love for the game. Older players (7-14) delve deeper into positional concepts through structured drills, small-sided games, and even carousel training stations that focus on specific technical skills.
Game Application: Throughout the camp, players will have numerous opportunities to apply the concepts they learn in a game setting. This allows them to experience the challenges and rewards of positional play in a fun and competitive environment.
